Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rainfall activity in Odisha till August 9.
“The well-marked low-pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal off north OdishaWest Bengal coasts now lies over north-west Bay of Bengal adjoining north Odisha and West Bengal coasts with the associated cyclonic circulation toward the south-west direction. Under its influence, there will be heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in the interior west and northern districts in the next 24 hours,” the IMD said in a mid-day bulletin.
It has issued orange and yellow warnings for the following districts.
August 5
(Orange warning)
Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Nuapada, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh and Angul.
Yellow warning
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Keonjhar and Balasore.
August 6
(Yellow warning)
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
August 7
Light to moderate rain or thundershower at a few places in Odisha.
August -8

Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Kalahandi, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapada.
August 9
(Yellow warning)
Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal.
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Rayagada, Nuapada, Balangir, Ganjam, Sonepur, Boudh and Sambalpur.
The fishermen have been advised not to venture into the deep sea along and off the Odisha coast during the next 24 hours due to the inclement weather.
