Bhubaneswar: With the depression persisting over south Odisha, heavy rain is likely to continue in several parts of the state during the next 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday.
The depression lay centred over south Odisha and adjoining south Chhattisgarh and north Andhra Pradesh, around 70 km northeast of Malkangiri. It is likely to move west-northwestwards across south Odisha, south Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha and weaken into a well marked low pressure area during next 24 hours.
The weather agency said light to moderate rain/thundershower may occur at many places of the state over the next week.
It issued yellow warning of heavy rain (7 to 11cm) at isolated places in the districts of Malkangiri and Koraput till the morning of Monday. The intensity of rain is likely to decrease from Monday and again increase after 2-3 days.
On September 5, heavy rain (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorm with lightning may occur at isolated places in the districts of Deogarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, and Puri. The weather agency has issued yellow warning.
