Bhubaneswar: Acting on the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) warning for heavy rainfall in 13 districts in Odisha, the state government on Friday asked the collectors concerned to remain on high alert.
In a letter, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena directed the collectors to remain prepared to meet waterlogging, flash floods and landslides in hilly areas and keep close vigil on the low-lying areas.
Besides, the collectors were e also asked to keep Fire Services teams in readiness for search and rescue operations and inform the state government if they need urgent requirements.
The collectors of the coastal districts were instructed not to allow fishermen to venture into the deep sea till October 5 as squally weather with the surface wing reaching 40-50 kmph wil make the sea condition very rough.
