Heavy Rainfall In Odisha In Three Days: Met
Bhubaneswar: There will be heavy rainfall in the state in the next 72 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Friday morning.
As per the forecast, a cyclonic circulation is most likely to form over the south-east Bay of Bengal in the next three days and concentrate into a low-pressure area from August 12 (Monday). This will trigger heavy rainfall in most parts of Odisha.
Gouranga Charan Behera, duty officer of the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, said that barring sporadic rainfall in some parts, the weather will remain mostly dry in Odisha till August 12. After that, the state will receive moderate to heavy rainfall as the monsoon will be active under the influence of a low-pressure.
“Mostly, the north Odisha districts and the three western districts of Deogarh, Sambalpur and Sundargarh will receive heavy to very heavy rainfall during the period,” Behera said.
He said deficit rainfall in Odisha had come down from 28 per cent to 8 per cent till August 8 and it will further dip by the next week.
