Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in South Odisha districts and heavy rainfall in western Odisha districts under the influence of a well-marked low pressure over the Bay of Bengal.
According to an IMD release, the depression which lay over north Coastal Andhra Pradesh moved in the north-north-east direction during the past six hours, has weakened into a low pressure area and lays over the north-west and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal and Odisha this morning. It is very likely to weaken further during the next 12 hours.
Under its influence, isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall will occur in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Gajapati districts in the next 12 hours. Besides, heavy rainfall will occur in Ganjam, Puri, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Bargarh, Balangir, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh and Keonjhar district during the period.
However, there will be a change in the weather conditions in the state on Tuesday afternoon, the release added.
