Heavy Security Blanket For Dussehra In Bhubaneswar For Six Days From Tomorrow
Bhubaneswar: All of Odisha capital will be under a heavy security blanket for six days from October 20 to prevent any untoward incident during the upcoming Durga Puja and Dussehra festivals.
Addressing the media, Commissioner of Police (CP) Saumendra Priyadarshi on Thursday said that 31 platoons of police force will be deployed in the city, which will witness grand Druga Puja celebrations at 188 places. “The puja pandals have been divided into 3 categories and forces will be provide accordingly for their security and crowd management. “The force will be led by 12 Additional DCPs, 23 ACPs, 41 inspectors, 151 ASIs, 12 traffic officers, 500 constable and more than 200 home guards. Every nook and cranny of the city will be under the surveillance of CCTV,” he said.
The CP further said that control rooms have been set up at six places in the city and striking force will intervene wherever required.
“There will be stricter blocking and checking during the Durga Puja celebration along with traffic restrictions. Heavy vehicles will not be allowed to ply on main roads in the city,” he said.
He said that people can report about anyone asking for donations for Durga Puja on the toll free number provided by the Commissionerate Police. “Bhubaneswar DCP will monitor the entire security arrangement round-the-clock,” he added, while appealing to residents to ensure safety at their houses while stepping outside on the occasion of Durga Puja.
