Hello, Anyone There? China’s Rover Spots Mystery ‘Hut’ On Moon
New Delhi: Have aliens started living on the moon?
China’s Yutu 2 rover, while driving across the Von Kármán crater on the far side of the moon, has spotted a mystery “hut” or “house”.
Yutu 2 spotted the mystery “hut” during the mission’s 36th lunar day last month, according to a Yutu 2 diary published by Our Space, a Chinese language science outreach channel affiliated to the China National Space Administration (CNSA), Space.com reported.
According to the post, the rover was located 80 metres away and was expected to reach the site in another two-three months.
Experts said it could be a large boulder that was “excavated by an impact event.”
Paul Byrne, a professor in Earth and Planetary Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, told Inverse that “he knows exactly what it is: the more mundane confluence of rocks, light, and shadow”.
“The object in that image is almost definitely, categorically, absolutely a boulder,” he told Inverse.
It’s not an obelisk or aliens, but certainly something to check out, and hard to discern much from the image. But large boulders are sometimes excavated by impacts, as seen by the Chang’e-3 mission, which launched eight years ago on December 1, Space.com reported.
