Cuttack: In view of the surge in cybercrime amid the COVID pandemic, Cuttack DCP Pratik Singh on Tuesday warned people against sharing their vaccination certificate on social media.
The certificate carries the name, age, gender as well as vaccination details—the name of the vaccine, dates of the first and as well as the second dose and other important personal information that can be misused.
“Your personal information and some secret data used in the QR code in the certificate can help fraudsters cheat you,” the DCP tweeted.

The Twin City Commissionerate Police had earlier cautioned people about these online fraudsters and asked them not to share their bank details, Aadhaar number or any other personal information with unknown persons
At least 256 people were duped of nearly Rs 70.78 lakh by unknown cybercriminals in the Odisha capital during the lockdown 1.0 and 2.0 in May this year.
The Home Ministry had earlier posted a similar warning on its cyber-safety and cybersecurity awareness Twitter handle Cyber Dost.
COVID-19 vaccination certificate can be downloaded both from the CoWIN portal and Aarogya Setu app.
