Davos, Switzerland: This year at the 56th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting (WEF), being held in Davos, Switzerland, India has its largest-ever delegation with a clear pitch to the world that ‘it is the future.’

This message that the country is the future is emblazoned across the India Pavilion on the main promenade of the ski resort town, sending a strong signal about India’s ambitions and opportunities

The development comes ahead of the Global India AI Summit in New Delhi. It also comes as Donald Trump is ramping up his threats to take Greenland from Denmark and has imposed tariffs on EU nations.

The India Pavilion also features displays from various state governments. Industry partners are echoing the same spirit of India being the world’s most reliable investment destination for the days to come. The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has echoed it with its slogan: “Partner India Inc, subscribe to a reliable future.”

A key focus of India’s presence at Davos is artificial intelligence (AI). Several major Indian IT firms, including Wipro and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), have set up their own spaces along the promenade, with Wipro promoting its vision of AI and beyond and TCS highlighting how it is embedding AI in every service it delivers. Other Indian tech players such as Infosys, HCL Technologies, and Tech Mahindra are also present. Additionally, an AI lounge — along with tea and coffee stalls — has been set up by the industry to engage visitors around this theme.

India’s delegation at Davos is substantial. Over 100 Indian CEOs are attending the summit, accompanied by a large government contingent. A number of state governments have established their own pavilions to showcase investment opportunities and regional strengths.

What’s the theme at Davos this year?

The theme of the Davos Summit this year, which will continue till Jan 23, is ‘A Spirit of Dialogue’. Over 3,000 delegates from more than 130 countries will attend, including 64 heads of state and government, particularly from emerging nations, reported the NDTV.

US President Donald Trump, Canada’s Mark Carney, France’s Emmanuel Macron, Germany’s Chancellor, EU President Ursula von der Leyen, Argentina’s Javier Milei, Indonesia’s Prabowo Subianto, Spain’s Pedro Sánchez, and EU President Ursula von der Leyen are expected to attend, besides several other Indian ministers.

Some major figures at Davos this year: Jensen Huang, Satya Nadella, Demis Hassabis, and Dario Amodei.

High-profile Indian delegation: From India, a number of high-profile individuals, including National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Minister of New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi, and Minister of Civil Aviation K. Rammohan Naidu, will be part of the delegation.

While US President Donald Trump is widely seen as one of the biggest global figures attending the summit, India’s delegation has generated considerable interest in its own right. Overall, more than 3,000 global leaders are participating in the five-day forum.
