Bengaluru: Bengaluru Police registered an FIR after a public relations officer (PRO) of Karnataka High Court received a call and WhatsApp messages threatening to kill six judges.
The complaint, filed by PRO K Muralidhar, stated that he received a call and messages from an international number at 7 pm on July 12.
The message in Hindi, Urdu and English allegedly threatened to kill him and six judges of the Karnataka High Court — Justices Mohammad Nawaz, HT Narendra Prasad, Ashok Nijagannanavar, HP Sandesh, K Natarajan and Veerappa – the PRO said.
The threat messages also demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh from Muralidhar and provided a Pakistani bank account number of ‘ABL Allied Bank Limited’ to deposit the money.
The sender threatened Muralidhar that if the money was not transferred, six judges of the High Court will be killed by a ‘Dubai gang’. He shared a few mobile numbers claiming, “Ye Indian hamare apne shooter hain (these are our Indian shooters).”
Following Murlidhar’s complaint, a case was registered under several sections of IPC and Information Technology (IT) Act at the central CEN crime police station of Bengaluru.
