Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police seized a high-end car of con woman Hansita Abhilipsa, who allegedly duped wealthy people of crores of rupees by posing as kin of high-profile bureaucrats and leaders, from a luxury apartment in Bhubaneswar.
As per sources, the luxury car worth over Rs 60 lakh was seized by the Special Crime Unit of the police after conducting raid at the flat in a luxury residential complex where Hansita and her aide Anil Mohanty were staying.
The car was seized after the woman was unable to furnish details about the vehicle. She failed to give information on the date and place of purchase of the car.
While Hansita and Anil were sent back to jail on completion of their one-day police remand period, the officials of the Income Tax (I-T) department continued search operation at the house where they stayed.
Meanwhile, it was reported that Hansita owns 3 flats in posh Z1 apartments in Bhubaneswar. She used to live in one of these flats with her associate Anil, who has also been arrested.
During search at the flat since Thursday, I-T and police officials reportedly laid their hands on several important documents. During remand, both were interrogated for a long time by the I-T and police.
It may be noted that Hansita and her aide Anil were arrested by the Commissionerate Police. Meanwhile, Hansita’s husband Saroj Sahu was also nabbed by the Income Tax Department on Wednesday. Manoj, a Congress leader, was interrogated for a long time. His father and brother were also questioned by the I-T Department officials. According to the information received,
Hansita is accused of having committed fraud to the tune of Rs 70 to 80 crores. The Commissionerate Police said if necessary, Hansita and Anil will be taken on remand again.
