Sambalpur: A high-level team of state government on Tuesday visited Samaleswari temple in the city for the renovation and beautification project to start soon.
The team, which visited on the direction of chief minister Naveen Patnaik, discussed various aspects of the project. Considering the importance of the shrine, the chief minister had announced renovation and beautification plan during his visit to the temple before the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
Under the project, renovation and beautification of the temple and its surrounding areas will be taken up. Besides, a heritage corridor, buildings for the stay of devotees and tourists and parking space will be constructed. The government will announce a suitable package for the priests of the temple and rehabilitation of the people who will lose land and properties due to the project.
To be taken up under 5T programme of the government, it is targeted to be completed within 2 years.
The officers’ team included chairman of Western Odisha Development Council Asit Tripathy, chief secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra and 5T secretary VK Pandian. They held discussion with district collector, director RDC (North), DIG and SP.
