Highest Overnight Addition Of 49,931 Cases Takes India’s COVID-19 Tally Past 14.3 Lakh
New Delhi: An overnight addition of 49,931 positive cases took India’s COVID-19 tally past 14.3 lakh to 14,35,453 on Monday.
This is the highest single-day spike of COVID-19 cases recorded in India so far.
A total of 708 people succumbed to the virus infection in the last 24 hours that took the country’s death toll to 32,771, the Union Health Ministry informed.
On a positive note, cumulative recovered cases (9,17,567) have surpassed active cases by 4,32,450.
Also, India’s recovery rate remains 63.92 per cent. The fatality rate of cases dips a bit to 2.28 per cent and is observed falling progressively, according to a PIB release.
The number of COVID-19 sample testing labs has increased to 1310 including 404 private labs. There are 668 RT-PCR based testing labs, including 260 private labs. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 1,68,06,803 COVID-19 samples have been tested so far, including 5,15,472 on Sunday.
