Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 tally in the Odisha capital crossed 6000-mark on Wednesday with the highest single-day spike of 370 cases in the last 24 hours.
Among them, 204 are quarantine and 166 local contact cases.
According to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, 14 more cases have been reported from Vani Vihar, eight from Reserve Police Colony and six from Rikshaw Colony, Niladri Vihar.
Five employees of a private hospital have also been infected.
Barring six with travel history, all quarantine cases are contacts of previous patients.
Among the local contact cases, 10 each are from Patia and Saheed Nagar.
“Further contact tracing is on. Primary contacts and nearby houses are being quarantined, sanitised. These will be under active surveillance,” the BMC tweeted.
The civic body further informed about 150 more patients getting cured of the infection.
The city also saw two patients succumbing to the virus in the last 24 hours.
With 30 deaths and 3840 recoveries, Bhubaneswar now has 2201 active cases.
