Bhubaneswar: The Odisha capital saw a record 90 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, which took the affected tally to 859 on Wednesday.
Among them, 63 are quarantine and 27 local contact cases. The 90 are among the 107 new cases detected in the Khurda district.

According to the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, 55 of these are linked with earlier positive cases, while six had recently travelled outside the state. An employee of a private hospital and a staffer of a government office have also tested positive for the virus.

The post further said that 27 among the new patients are local contact cases.
On the other hand, 24 more patients have been cured of the infection.
The day also saw a 72-year-old man of Bhubaneswar succumbing to the virus.
