Bhubaneswar: Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan flagged off the modern LHB rake of Bhubaneswar-Jagadalpur-Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express at the railway station, here through video-conferencing on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Vaishnaw said during his recent visit to Odisha, he had travelled in Hirakhand Express and taken the feedback from the passengers about the rail services. Introducing modern Linke-Hofmann-Busch (LHB) coaches in the train will provide better and more pleasant journey experience to the passengers, he added.
Stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been stressing on reforms in the Railways to make a wholesome transformation and not just incremental changes, Vaishnaw said every year, Rs 6000 crore to 7000 crore is sanctioned in the budget for development of rail infrastructure in Odisha.
The Hirakhand Express will now run with a load combination of 12 coaches including one AC 2-Tier, two AC 3-Tier, four Sleeper Class and three Second Class Seating.
Union Minister Pradhan said special attention is being given by the Central government in the field of developmental of railway infrastructure and projects.
