Honour Killing: Couple Murdered, Bodies Found In Crocodile-Infested River
Bhopal: In a shocking incident of honour killing, an 18-year-old woman and her 21-year-old lover were shot dead and thrown into a crocodile-infested river in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district.
Police said their bodies were found tied to heavy stones.
Shivani Tomar and Radheshyam Tomar were allegedly killed by the girl’s family at Ratanbasai village earlier this month, NDTV reported.
The family opposed Shivani’s relationship with Radheshyam, who was from a neighbouring village, police said.
The boy’s father filed a police complaint alleging that his son and the woman had been missing for several days and he suspected they were murdered.
Police initially thought the duo had run away. On probing the incident, however, no one could be found in the village who had seen the two.
Police interrogated the woman’s father and relatives, who admitted to the crime after hours of questioning.
They reportedly told police that Shivani and Radheshyam were shot dead on June 3 after which the bodies were tied to heavy stones and thrown into Chambal river.
“We interrogated the family members of the woman during which they confessed to the crime. The woman’s family told us that they murdered the couple and threw their bodies into Chambal river. We took the help of rescue teams to retrieve the bodies,” said a police officer.
