Cuttack: The house surgeons of three government medical colleges and hospitals in Odisha have threatened to resort to an indefinite cease work from Thursday.
In a statement on Wednesday, president of All Odisha House Surgeons Association Dipak Kumar Samal said the house surgeons had demanded a hike in their monthly stipend. As the state government did not take any step, they were on duty wearing the black badge since January 22.
“As there is no response from the government till date, the house surgeons of SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur and Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla have decided to begin an indefinite cease work from tomorrow till their demands are met,” Samal added.
However, he said that the house surgeons will be available for emergency medical service and COVID-19 duty in these three medical colleges.
