Bhubaneswar Principal Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department Usha Padhee on Tuesday reviewed the situation and preparedness in urban areas of the state in view of the monsoon season.
Padhee instructed urban local bodies to ensure that guidelines issued by the department must be followed for addressing water logging and urban flooding issues.
While the state has witnessed incessant rains over the last one week, the wet spell is set to continue through the week, the IMD informed.
During the last 24 hours, at least 15 stations in the state recorded more than 50mm rainfall. Athmallik recorded the highest 101mm followed by Banarpal 92.6mm, Similiguda 84mm, Angul 83mm and Lamataput received 74.2mm rainfall during on Monday.
