Husband Commits Suicide After ‘Killing’ Wife In Puri

Puri: A man allegedly killed himself by jumping before a speeding train after killing his wife in Puri on Monday.

Kalu Behera allegedly killed his wife, Subhasmita Mohanty at Nua Sahi on Nabaalebara Road in Puri this morning.

In the evening, he jumped in front of Shatabdi Express and died on the spot.

On being informed, police reached the spot and seized the body for postmortem.

According to sources, Subhasmita and Kalu Behera had a love marriage three months back. However, there used to fight constantly.

Though the reason for the alleged murder is yet to be ascertained, it is being suspected that Kalu had killed her over a family feud.

Talabania police have sent Subhasmita’s body to the Puri district headquarters hospital for postmortem.

Preliminary investigation suggested that she was allegedly beaten and then strangulated. There were slit marks on her wrist.
