New Delhi: Hyundai has finally unwrapped the covers of the modern version of its iconic Santro, on the 20th anniversary of launch of the 1st Santro.
The new Santro is powered by a 4-cylinder 1.1 litre petrol engine that produces 67.5bhp. The car comes with factory-fitted CNG option and the engine produces 59bhp in the CNG mode. The ARAI rated fuel economy numbers for the petrol is 20.3 kmpl and for CNG, it is 30 kg/km. The CNG tank has a capacity of 8 kg. There is an automatic AMT variant too. AMT gearbox is a first for Hyundai in India.
As expected, Hyundai has loaded the car with tech features such as a 6.5 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android auto, Apple Carplay and Mirror Link. There is voice recognition support too. Rear camera as well as rear AC vents, another segment-first is also an option.
ABS, EBD and one airbag is standard across the range.
The AC vents have an ‘Eco coating’ that cuts down odour. This feature is available on the Verna. The interiors have a black and beige color combo.
The new Santro wears 165/70-R14s Hancook tyres.
However, there is no climate control or push button start on the new Santro.
Online bookings of the car will begin on October 22, and the 1st 50000 customers can book it for just Rs 11000.
According to a report on Autocar India, prices of the new Santro will be begin at ‘well below Rs 4 lakh’.
