Bhubaneswar: The 74th Independence Day in all schools in Odisha this year will be celebrated without students in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the School and Mass Education Department said in a notification on Thursday.
The department has directed the school authorities to ask the students to stay at home. The teachers, however, will remain present. The tricolour will be hoisted between 9 am and 11 am.
Instructions have been given to ensure that the gathering does not exceed more than 10 persons and COVID-19 guidelines like social distancing and the use of masks are strictly adhered to.
Besides, the school authorities have been asked not to serve or distribute any food item during the celebration.
