Kolkata: The Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) raids on the office of Trinamool Congress’s political consultant I-PAC and the residence of its chief Pratik Jain has snowballed into a major controversy.
West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s decision to storm the raid sites and walk away with pen drives and files has been challenged in Kolkata High Court, while the state government has also moved court against the ED.
As TMC organised protests against the ED’s action, the chief minister made a serious allegation against none other than Amit Shah from a protest rally in Kolkata.
Mamata accused Shah and West Bengal’s leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari of misusing coal scam proceeds and manipulating electoral outcomes with the help of institutions.
The Trinamool supremo charged the BJP-led Central government of trying to replicate what she described as “forceful” electoral victories in other states by misusing central agencies and constitutional bodies ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections.
“Senior BJP leaders in Delhi receive coal scam proceeds… I can furnish proof before public if needed,” Mamata said, addressing a large crowd protesting the ED raids in Kolkata.
“I have pen drives. I have kept quiet out of respect for the chair and love for the country. But there is a limit… Don’t pressure me too much. I will reveal everything. The whole country will be shocked,” Mamata thundered.
