Bhubaneswar: Income Tax (IT) officials carried out raids at the house and other properties of former Odisha MLA Sanatan Mahakud on Thursday.
Sources said simultaneous raids are being carried out by separate teams of I-T officials in Keonjhar, Joda, Bhubaneswar and the ancestral village of Mahakud, former Champua MLA.
In Bhubaneswar, a number of residential buildings, which are under construction in his name, were also searched.
Simultaneous raids are being conducted at 10 locations in the state. The ex-MLA’s residential house in Shahidnagar area of Bhubaneswar is also being searched by I-T officials..
The raid is reportedly being conducted in Bhubaneswar by a 10-member Income Tax team. The operation has been mounted to detect alleged tax evasion by the former legislator. The premises of his personal assistant is also stated to be raided.
The raid is underway and details are awaited. The search operation is likely to continue for quite some time.
