New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that his government is guided by the principle of India first and appeasement to none.

“The country witnessed the politics and governance model of appeasement for a long time. Our principle is appeasement to none,” he said while speaking on the Motion of Thanks to President Droupadi Murmu’s address in Lok Sabha.

Hailing the mandate for the NDA and a successive third term, Modi further said: “I can understand the pain of some people who lost (in the election) despite lying continuously. The people of India have given us the opportunity to serve them for third successive term. The country has blessed us for our zero-tolerance policy towards corruption. Today India’s credibility has increased across the world…The sole aim of our every policy, every decision, every action has been India first.”

Modi also assured that his government will leave no stone unturned to fulfil the resolution of building a Viksit Bharat. “Mere Shareer Ka Kan Kan (every part of my body) is dedicated to the dream of Viksit Bharat and we are close to achieving it. Ee will spend every moment of our time to fulfil this resolution…,” he said.

He added: “In the last 10 years, we have taken India’s economy to number 5 from number 10. Now, we will take the country’s economy to number 3. In the last 10 years, we have made India a big manufacturer of mobile phones, made India a big exporter of mobile phones. Now, we are going to do the same thing in semiconductors and other sectors in our tenure. The chips that will be useful in important works of the world, those chips will be prepared on the soil of my India…”

The Prime Minister also praised first-timer MPs from NDA for following all the rules of Parliament while expressing their views on the President’s address. “Yesterday and today, several MPs have expressed their views of the President’s address, especially those who have come among us for the first time as Parliamentarians. They followed all the rules of the Parliament and their behaviour was like that of an experienced Parliamentarian and despite being the first timer, they have enhanced the dignity of the House and have made this debate more valuable with their views…,” he said amid sloganeering.

Lashing out at Congress, he said that their aim is to spread anarchy. “The Congress party is openly creating new narratives and spreading new plans every day to put one caste against another…It was clearly announced from various platforms that if the result they want is not achieved, the country will be set on fire on 4th June. People will gather, anarchy will be spread and these appeals were made in large numbers.”

OTHER QUOTABLE REMARKS

“Country was in depths of despair in 2014, people elected us and an era of transformation began”

“For some time, when we used to open the newspaper every day, we used to read only news of scams…”

“…There was a period of scams when it was shamelessly accepted publicly that if 1 rupee is sent from Delhi, only 15 paise reaches.”

“2014 ke baad ka Hindustan ghar mein ghus kar maarta hain…”

“Emergency was imposed on the country due to the dictatorial mentality of the people in power. Congress had crossed all limits of arrogance…Toppling governments, suppressing the media, everything was against the spirit of the Constitution.”

“Baba Saheb Ambedkar had resigned from Nehru’s cabinet due to the anti-Dalit, anti-backward mentality of the Congress…”

Notably, the debate on the President’s Motion of Thanks concluded on Tuesday evening with BJP MP Manoj Tiwari as the final speaker following which Modi responded to the address.
