Identify Accident Black Spots On City Roads: CP To Traffic Cops
Bhubaneswar: In the wake of the death of five persons in two road accidents in Odisha capital within a span of five days, Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty on Monday directed traffic officers to identify black spots and install speed breakers on NH passing through Cuttack-Bhubaneswar.
He also directed them to regulate vehicular speed using interceptors.
Notably, a man died on the spot while his son was seriously injured after a truck rammed their two-wheeler this morning.
According to sources, a father-son duo was on the way towards CRP Square when a speeding truck hit their scooter on a flyover near Acharya Vihar. So severe was the collision that the duo with the scooter fell off from a height of about 30 feet.
While the father died on the spot, the seriously injured son was rushed to the Capital Hospital in a critical condition.
On May 25, two students were run over by a speeding truck while another suffered grievous injuries on Nayapalli overbridge here.
The deceased was identified as Girija Shankar Parida and Chandranshupati Mishra.
Another student, identified as Soumya Ketan Sahoo, sustained critical injuries and is under treatment in SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
The youths had appeared for Plus-II annual examinations this year.
