Bhubaneswar: In order to enable the students of hospitality sector to pursue courses in specialised vegetarian programmes, the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Bhubaneshwar on Wednesday signed an MoU with the Sattvik Council of India (SCI).
Through this collaborative agreement, the students can pursue courses on Vegetarian Tourism & Catering Management, Sattvik Auditor and Lead Auditor.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed was signed between the two organisations in the presence of Abhishek Biswas, Founder, SCI; Satyanarayan Mohapatra, State Coordinator, Odisha, SCI; Sharada Gosh, Principal, IHM, Bhubaneshwar.
Speaking on the occasion, Biswas said, “SCI always visioned about transforming certification into education and training. The student community will benefit from this arrangement as now they are able to pursue the courses in specialised vegetarian programmes either in hospitality or management through IHM. They can also secure a good job in the same.”
“This was an important step that was needed as vegetarians have to take a step back from the bigger businesses in the world, and it is a drawback. Even though I respect all food choices, we cannot disregard courses in vegetarian management or auditor. We are facing a huge unemployability after COVID pandemic. Now the students will be able to earn a dispensable income after the competition of the course,” Satyanarayan Mohapatra said.
Sattvik council intends to make a IHM Bhubaneshwar as the “Sattvik Centre of Excellence” for the future as the part of the agreement mentioned.
A series of seminar was also conducted on “Sattva” The Ultimate Pure: Applications of Sattvik Certifications on the occasion.
Sattvik Council of India, a non-profit organisation, is the world’s first vegetarian food and lifestyle standard development body with an objective to promote the certification of vegetarian food.
