IIM-Sambalpur To Focus On Research Work

Sambalpur: Following a successful cent percent placement of the students, authorities of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Sambalpur have now been focusing on the research work in the institute.

The institute has also decided to make an appeal to the Union HRD ministry this year to participate in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).“As the institute has secured cent percent placement, the HRD ministry has increased the seat from 60 to 120. Admission in these seats is now underway. Since the institute has completed three years, it is now eligible for NIRF and we are going to apply for this from this year,” Mahadeo Prasad Jaiswal, director of IIM-Sambalpur said.

He, however, said that due to the absence of airport, there has been a problem in the campus placement and invitation of overseas faculties to the institute.

Regular classes of the institute are now being held at a new building inside the Sambalpur University campus.

Construction of the new campus is underway on 200 acres of land at Basantpur provided by the state government.

As informed by the Sambalpur collector Samarth Burma, the district administration will provide necessary infrastructure to the institute very soon.

“The construction of the approach road to the IIM and the boundary wall of the institute have been completed. The district administration has given provisional possession of the land to the institute. The concerned authorities will take the formal possession of the land after submitted a letter to the district administration,” he said.
