Berhampur: In order to promote and nurture talent of young researchers, the IISER at Berhampur in Odisha’s Ganjam district organised an interaction with members of the Springer Nature India Research Tour.
The event aimed at sharing insights on the “Role of Translational and Basic Sciences Research in India” and had a focus discussion with faculty members, research scholars of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Berhampur and Springer Nature Team.
The primary objective of the tour, organised in partnership with the Ministry of Education, was to fortify the Indian research landscape by nurturing the talents of young researchers and creating an inclusive environment for knowledge dissemination. One of its fundamental principles is to democratise research and foster conversations for promoting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Over 50 participants, including students, research scholars and faculty participated in the event. Prof Ashok K Ganguli, Director, IISER-Berhampur stressed on research in welcome address, while Arend Küster, Director, Academic Affairs and Ed Gerstner, Director of Research Environment Alliances Springer Nature, spoke on ‘Publishing Research Impact’ and Nihar K Patra, librarian, IISER-Berhampur spoke on role of library on research communication.
The Springer Nature India Research Tour has covered 15 institutions across 10 states covering 10,800 kms. Researchers, policy makers and research ambassadors along with Springer Nature India and International teams from Berlin and London office have been travelling in the bus.
It has engaged with more than 100,000 researchers, scientists and academic leaders across India. It rewarded over 1,000 young women researchers through the “Research Our Future” campaign.
