Jaipur: ‘IIT Baba’ alias Abhay Singh, who rose to prominence during the Mahakumbh, was detained by Jaipur Police, reports claimed. According to initial information, IIT Baba had threatened to commit suicide on social media. Following this, cops from Shipra Path police station found IIT Baba at Classic Hotel in Jaipur, reported Aaj Tak. Reports also claimed that police recovered ‘ganja’ from his possession.
A case has also been registered against IIT Baba under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act., reported the India Today. According to the report, Singh said the recovered ganja was ‘prasad.’
Police released Singh later as ‘ganja’ found with him was within the permissible limit, ABP reported.
This incident comes just days after Singh alleged that he was assaulted in a news debate programme of a private channel in Noida on February 28. He alleged that some saffron-clad people beat him with sticks.
IIT Baba sat outside the police outpost in Sector 126 but later withdrew the protest when police persuaded him.
