Bhubaneswar: IIT Bhubaneswar has signed an MoU with AIIMS here on Monday for collaborative research and academic interaction among the faculty and scientist of both the institutes, including joint supervision of doctoral and master students.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Minister of Human Resource and Development Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.
The broad areas covered under the MoU include collaborative research and academic interaction among the faculty members and scientists of both the institutes in their relevant areas, said a statement issued by the IIT. It will also facilitate sharing of research information and joint supervision of doctoral and master students for the research programmes.
In addition, the MoU also includes organising joint symposia, colloquium, workshops, seminars and conferences on chosen topics and areas to train students in both the institutes.
The HRD Minister said he was looking forward to fruitful outcomes from this collaboration in the best interest of the society. He emphasised that all institutes should complement each other, work as a team, collaborate for meaningful outcomes in the interest of all.
“The MoU provides a plethora of opportunities to work together on a larger domain of bio-technology application to health sciences. Collaboration with AIIMS will help IIT Bhubaneswar in developing our competence in bio-engineering and we intend to foster the research in bio-engineering, pro-biotics and bio-medical engineering,” Director of IIT Bhubaneswar Prof R.V. Raja Kumar said.
