Bhubaneswar: IIT Bhubaneswar will host its 8th annual convocation on Saturday. ISRO Chairman K Sivan will attend the event as the chief guest.
The institute will confer degrees to 32 PhD scholars, 105 M.Tech, 67 M.Sc and 152 B.Tech students on the occasion.
Addressing the media a day ahead of the convocation ceremony, IIT Bhubaneswar Director RV Raja Kumar announced the names of the students who would be felicitated under different categories.
The President of India Gold Medal will be awarded to Shrohan Mohapatra of Computer Science and Engineering for best academic performance among the entire outgoing B.Tech batch of students.
The Director’s Gold Medal will be awarded to Rahul Das of the School of Infrastructure for best academic performance among the entire outgoing M.Tech batch of students.
The Director’s Gold Medal will also be awarded to Anubhav Nath (Chemistry) of the School of Basic Sciences for best academic performance among the entire outgoing M.Sc. batch of students.
For the best academic performance in the respective schools, the Institute Silver Medals will be awarded to Shrohan Mohapatra, Gonuguntla Neeharika, Indira Singh Dhakar, Gaurav Vishal and Chaudhari Hrishikesh Umesh among the outgoing B.Tech batch of students.
For the best academic performance in the respective Schools, the Institute Silver Medals will be awarded to Rahul Das, Abhishek Parida, Srija Mukherjee, Ananta Dutta, P Abhishek and Spandan Dey among the outgoing M.Tech batch of students.
For the best academic performance in the respective Schools, the Institute Silver Medals will be awarded to Anubhav Nath, Sharmistha Dey, Kaushik Nageswar Jaiswal, Sujay Nandi among the outgoing M.Sc. batch of students.
At present, the Institute has 2,133 students (B.Tech 1,037, B.Tech & M.Tech 312, M.Tech 334, M.Sc 155 and PhD 295) and 137 full-time faculty members. In addition, the institute has 25 officers and about 81 supporting staff. At present, seven academic schools are functioning on the campus. It offers B.Tech, M.Tech, dual degree (B.Tech + M.Tech) and M.Sc programs.
