‘Illicit Affair’ Behind Murderous Attack On Family In Bargarh, Five Arrested
Bargarh: The Bijepur police cracked the Bargarh murderous attack, in which a woman had died, with the arrest of five persons on Sunday.
According to the preliminary investigation, Khirod Meher (50) was the target but his wife Jayshree (43) got killed in the attack hatched by their daughter-in-law and her family members.
Those arrested include Jayashree’s daughter-in-law, her father Kedar Meher (40), sister and paramour Mitrabhanu Guru (34) of Tenterkund village under Dunguripali police limits in Sonepur district and their assistant Paritosh Banka (35) of Khuntapali village.
Based on the complaint registered by Khirod, police had registered a case and produced the accused in court, which rejected their bail pleas and remanded them to judicial custody.
Two others involved in the attack are still at large and police have launched a manhunt to nab them.
According to sources, Jayshree’s son Balaram had married Kedar’s daughter two years ago. However, she was in a relationship with Mitrabhanu and the two continued their illicit affair even after marriage.
Mitrabhanu introduced himself as the woman’s brother and often visited her, which did not go down well with Jayshree and Khirod. On one occasion, Khirod turned him away from the house.
This infuriated Mitrabhanu and he decided to eliminate Khirod with the help of three of his friends.
The woman then visited her parents home on some pretext and she along with Mitrabhanu, her father Kedar and sister hatched the murder plan. She later went back to her husband’s place.
As per the plan, she kept the back door open on December 5 night. Later, Mitrabhanu along with three of his aides arrived at the house late in the night and attacked the family with sharp weapons. One of them stabbed Jayshree to death when she tried to save her husband. The accused also attacked their sons, Balaram and Debanand, when they rushed into the room hearing screams.
Khirod, Jayshree and their two sons were then rushed to Bijepur community health centre (CHC), where Jayshree succumbed to the injuries.
