Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast dry weather on December 31 and January 1 in the state.
Dry weather very likely to prevail over Odisha on December 31 and January 1, the IMD said in its midday bulletin on Thursday.
But it forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers at a few places over Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore over the next 16-18 hours.
It issued Yellow warning (valid till 8.30 am on Friday) for dense fog at one or two places over Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur and Boudh.
An Yellow warning has also been issued for January 1 for dense fog at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Balasore, Kalahandi and Sonepur districts.
The minimum temperatures, or night temperatures, will dip by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius during the next four to five days in Odisha, the IMD said.
