Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued cold wave warning for five Odisha districts.
In a mid-day bulletin, IMD said that since there is no significant synoptic system lies over Odisha and neighbourhood, the night temperature in most parts of the state will come down sharply due to the blowing of northern wind from the sub-Himalayan region.
As per the weather forecast, the cold wave condition will prevail over the districts of Angul, Sonepur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh and Balangir on Saturday and Angul, Sonepur and Balangir districts on Sunday.
The bulletin further said that there will be a change in the weather condition in the subsequent 24 hours with light to moderate rain or thundershower at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jharsuguda, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar on January 28 and Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Kendrapada on January 29.
However, there will be a gradual rise in the night temperature by 4-6 degree Celsius over the districts of Odisha from January 30, the bulletin added.
Meanwhile, minimum night temperature recorded in the last 24 hours was lowest in Sonepur and Angul with 8 degree Celsius followed by Jharsuguda (8.6).
Besides, temperature remained at 15 degrees and below in Balasore (11), Chandbali (13.8), Cuttack (14), Baripada (11.5), Keonjhar (10.4), Sambalpur (10.2), Sundargarh (12.5), Hirakud (12.1), Talcher (13.4), Bhawanipatna (13.5), Balangir (12.2), Koraput (13), Phulbani (10), Daringibadi (10.5), Nayagarh (13) and Boudh (12).
The night temperature in Bhubaneswar, which was 21.2 degree Celsius yesterday, fell by about 5 degree Celsius (16.2) today.
