Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued yellow warning (intense cold wave) for 13 districts of Odisha and light to moderate rainfall in some parts of the state.
The IMD in an evening release said that the intense cold wave condition would prevail in Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Balasore, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Cuttack, Puri, Khurda, Kalahandi and Balangir districts for two days from Monday.
“The weather will overall remain dry in Odisha on January 1 and 2 after which there will be light to moderate rainfall with thundershower at one or two places in Bargarh, Nuapada, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar and Deogarh districts on January 2 and Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Khurda, Sonepur and Boudh districts on January 3.
Talking to the media in New Delhi this afternoon, Director General, IMD, Mrutyunjay Mahapatra said the intense cold wave condition in Odisha will prevail till January 1. “Though there will be light to moderation rainfall in the interior north and western districts under the influence of a trough line from Tripura to the north Bay of Bengal, there will be less rainfall activity in the southern districts of Odisha,“ he added.
