Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued red warning for 10 districts of Odisha.
An IMD release in the morning said that the severe cyclonic storm Titli, which turned into a deep depression over Odisha on Friday morning, has moved in the east-northeast direction with a speed of 6 kmph and lay centred about 30 km northeast of Phulbani and 70 km southwest of Angul. It is very likely to move in the northeast direction towards the Gangetic West Bengal and weaken into a depression during the next 12 hours.
Under its influence, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places in theĀ 10 districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Mayurbhanj.
During the period, squally wind speed of 45-55 kmph gusting up to 65 kmph will blow along and off the Odisha coast while the wind speed in the adjoining areas of north interior and south interior Odisha will be 35-45 kmph gusting up to 55 kmph over during the next 12 hours.
As the sea condition would be rough to very rough along and off the Odisha coast, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea during the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the local cautionary (LC) signal has been hoisted at all the ports in the state.
