Bhubaneswar: Extremely heavy to very heavy rain is likely to pound several parts of Odisha for next few days under the influence of low pressure area formed over the bay.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the low pressure area over the north Bay of Bengal persisted over the same region. It is likely to move west-north-westwards and intensify into a well marked low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal & Bangladesh coasts during next 24 hours. It is likely to continue to move west-north-westwards towards West Bengal & adjoining North Odisha coasts during subsequent 24 hours.
Rainfall of varied intensity is expected to lash many areas of the state till July 30. The weather agency has issued red, orange and yellow warnings for different districts during the period.
Red warning has been issued for Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts for the next 24 hours. Extremely heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places over these districts during the period.
Similarly, orange warning of heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph was issued for the districts of Kendrapada, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Koraput, and Malkangiri.
Heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places over the districts of Deogarh, Khurda, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nabarangpur, and Angul. Yellow warning has been issued for these districts.
This apart, thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sonepur, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sambalpur, Kalahandi, Sundargarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, and Puri.
On July 25-26, extremely heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at some places of Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar districts where red warning has been issued.
Orange warning of heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph has been issued for the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Sundargarh.
Yellow warning of heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph was issued for the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Kalahandi, and Nabarangpur.

Yellow warning of heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph was issued for the districts of Koraput, Nabarangpur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, and Jharsuguda.
