Bhubaneswar: While the whole of Odisha is feeling the chill, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued severe cold wave warning for the northern districts of the state in the next 24 hours.
In an afternoon release, the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, said cold wave conditions will continue to prevail in Odisha for the next 48 hours up to February 2.
Some places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore will experience severe cold wave conditions in the next 24 hours and the districts of Kalahandi, Balangir, Nuapada, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Balasore in the subsequent 24 hours, it said.
The night temperature is likely fall by 3-5 degrees during the next two days, the release added.
Meanwhile, the lowest minimum temperature was recorded in Angul and Daringbadi, which were at 6 degree Celsius each, on January 30 while mercury plummeted to below 10 degrees at 13 places – Sonepur (6.2), Malkangiri (9), Titlagarh (7.5), Phulbani (6.8), Koraput (8.6), Balangir (7.4), Bhawanipatna (8), Talcher (9.5), Sambalpur (8.5), Keonjhar (7.8), Jharsuguda (8.1), Baripada (9) and Balasore (9.4).
The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar recorded 10.2 and 10.4 degree Celsius respectively.
