Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a thunderstorm alert for 17 districts of Odisha from 8.30 pm to 11.30 pm on Saturday.
The latest Met bulletin said moderate thunderstorm, lightning with light rainfall and gusty wind speeds reaching 30-40 kmph are likely to occur at one or two places in Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Baragarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Gajapati and Rayagada districts.
Meanwhile, most parts of Odisha came under intense heat wave today with eight districts recording above 40 degrees Celsius.
Titilagarh recorded the highest temperature at 43 degrees Celsius. The Odisha capital recorded 34.4 degree Celsius.
