Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued orange and yellow warnings for thunderstorm, lightning and heavy rainfall at one or two places in Odisha.
“The rainfall activity in Odisha will continue for four days up to March 15,” the IMD added.
The rainfall warning for the following districts are:.
March 12
(Orange warning)
Thunderstorm with lightning and thunder squall wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Khurda and Kandhamal.
(Yellow warning)
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Dhenkanal and Cuttack.
Thunderstorm with lighting accompanied with gusty surface winds, speed reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places over the districts of Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Khurda, Puri and Jagatsinghpur.
March 13
(Orange warning)
Thunderstorm with lightning and thunder squall wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph very like to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur, Balangir, Sambalpur and Bargarh.
(Yellow warning)
Thunderstorm with lighting accompanied with gusty surface winds, speed reaching 30 to 40 kmph at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Angul, Keonjhar, Cuttack and Nayagarh.
March 14
(Yellow warning)
Thunderstorm with lighting accompanied with gusty surface winds, speed reaching 30 to 40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Sonepur and Boudh.
Besides, light to moderate rain or thundershower will occur at one or two places over the districts of North interior Odisha, Sonepur, Balangir, Nuapada, Kandhamal, Balasore on March 15, the bulletin added.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar has issued a warning for thunderstorm with lightning and light to moderate rain with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at some places over the districts of Bargarh, Sundargarh and Jharsuguda between 11 am and 2 pm and advised the people of these districts to remain alert during the period.
