Bhubaneswar: The Collector and District Magistrate of Odisha’s Kalahandi issued an order directing all schools and Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) of the district to remain closed on September 11.
The directive follows heavy rainfall alert in the district issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
As per the order, all government, government-aided and private educational institutions including elementary, secondary and higher secondary schools as well as OAVs, KVs, EMRS and AWCs of Kalahandi will be shut on Friday.
Keeping in view the safety and security of students, the district administration has announced the closure of educational institutions on Friday.
“However, the teachers and staff may attend their normal school duty and complete the pending works of the institutions,” the order added.
IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall on September 11 in some places in Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Kandhamal districts.
IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall in several places across Nuapada, Balangir, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Gajapati and Ganjam districts on the day.
