Bhubaneswar: A visit to Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) has set Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren thinking.
So impressed he was that Soren said he was keen to establish a similar institute in Jharkhand.
“I visited Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences and learned a lot,” Soren said after his visit on April 28.
Addressing KISS students, he praised the efforts of Dr Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT & KISS, for setting up such an extraordinary institution. “It is unthinkable to create such a huge institution even by any government,” he remarked.
Such an institute could have a positive impact on tribal communities in Jharkhand and help solve the Naxal problem and other problems of tribals, felt the CM.
“KISS has made me think a lot. KISS and Dr Samanta will guide us in involving the tribal community in the development process. We will adopt the practices and create the atmosphere of KISS in the education sector in Jharkhand. For this we will provide all support to KISS,” the Jharkhand CM said, adding that the passion, enthusiasm among the children and atmosphere of KISS are remarkable.
Advising students to utilise the platform to achieve their goals with determination and hard work, Soren announced he would donate one month’s salary to KISS.
Astonished to see so many students in KISS, the CM’s wife Kalpana Murmu Soren interacted with the kids.
“You have come so far away from the village to reach KISS. I believe under the guidance of Dr Achyuta Samanta and the teachers of KISS, you can definitely reach your goal,” she told students, advising them to be always confident in life.
Jharkhand Chief Secretary Sukhdev Singh said that KISS is not an institution but an empire.
“It is because of God’s blessings on Dr Achyuta Samanta that he has built such a huge institution,” he said.
