Bhubaneswar: After an eight-year break, Odisha’s college and university campuses returned to the centre of student politics as union elections were held across the state on Thursday.

Celebrations erupted in different students’ groups following the declaration of results for the union elections. The results highlighted a close contest between the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD).

Voting took place on across colleges and universities, bringing student leaders back into the electoral spotlight. Following declaration of poll results, oath-taking by elected leaders took place in colleges and universities across the state.

While ABVP candidates secured key victories in Bhubaneswar and other districts, BCJD made its mark at prominent institutions, including Rama Devi Women’s University and Ravenshaw University.
