New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday evening paid a surprise visit to the under-construction new Parliament building.
He spent more than an hour at the upcoming complex as he inspected ongoing work, Hindustan Times reported.
ANI shared a series of photographs showing Modi going around the big complex, accompanied by Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla.
Observing different parts of both Houses of Parliament minutely, the PM also interacted with construction workers and officials.
Modi, who laid the foundation stone of the new building in 2020, had visited the construction site In September 2021 also.
“The need was felt for a new Parliament building for years… 21st century India needs a new Parliament complex. The old building fulfilled the needs of the country, the new Parliament building will fulfil the country’s aspirations,” the PM had said during the event.
The new complex, being built over a sprawling area of 64,500 square metre at an estimated cost of Rs 971 crore, is part of the Rs 20,000 crore Central Vista project.
