Bhubaneswar: India stormed into the ICC Under-19 ODI World Cup 2024 final with a thrilling two-wicket victory against South Africa in the semi-final on Tuesday.
India victory against the Proteas was powered by 171-run partnership between Sachin Dhas and Uday Saharans for the fifth wicket.
Electing to bat first, South Africa’s Lhuan-dre Pretorius registered his third consecutive 50 in the tournament by smashing 76 off 102. He was supported by Richard Seletswane with 64 runs. The batters helped Proteas score a challenging total of 244 for 7 for India to win.
India took off with early batting collapse as they lost 4 wickets for only 32 runs on the scoreboard. However, the fifth wicket stand of Sachin and Uday helped the defending champions chase 245-run target successfully.
While Sachin scored 96 off 95 balls, 81 runs came from captain Uday’s bat to help the young guns to a memorable victory. India will face the winner of the second semifinal between Pakistan and Australia in the final on February 11.
