INDIA Bloc Has Decided On Its PM Candidate, Claims Uddhav Thackeray
Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently said there were reports of the Opposition INDIA bloc planning a one-year one-PM formula if it received a favourable mandate in the Lok Sabha elections.
Countering that theory, the Opposition bloc suggested on Saturday that it has already zeroed in on a PM candidate.
Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray said that INDIA bloc has several potential candidates for the position of prime minister, and a decision has been made within the alliance which they don’t need to disclose it right now.
Speaking at a joint press conference here on the final day of campaigning for the fifth phase of polling, Thackeray emphasised that INDIA bloc’s primary objective is to protect the country’s democracy and independence.
“Modi has at least acknowledged that we have several faces for the post, but the BJP has no other face to think about for the post. They have only one face which is not even in reckoning. How many times is the BJP going to project the same face? By saying that INDIA has multiple faces and it will give five prime ministers in five years, the PM has admitted that we have many faces eligible for the post and we are going to form the government,” Thackeray stated.
Addressing a public meeting in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul three weeks ago, Modi had the country should know who is INDIA bloc’s PM face.
“On our side, you have Modi in front of you, with a track report of 10 years. The opposition looked for a PM face, but could not find one. Now some media reports said they are discussing one-year-one PM formula which means five prime ministers in five years. What will happen to the country?” Modi asked.
