India Checkmates China In Chess Summit At KIIT
Bhubaneswar: Impressive show by Aravindha Chithambaram helped India win the Bilateral Chess Summit against China for the first time.
India broke the winning streak of China by match points 9 – 7 and game points 15.5 – 16.5 after completion of eighth and last round, which ended in 2-2 draw at KIIT University here on Tuesday.
While India’s Aryan Chopra lost to M Lu Shanglei, Karthikeyan Murali drew with Xu Xiangyu on Board 2. Similarly, the match between India’s Narayan Srinath and China’s Bai Jinshi ended in a draw.
Former Indian Junior National Champion, Aravindha Chithambaram launched La-Keres Attack against Sicilian Scheveningen System of Xu Yinglun of China and scored a thumping win on 29th move.
The victorious Indian team collected a cash prize of Rs 6 lakh, while the Chinese team received Rs 4 lakh.
