Washington: US President Donald Trump has reposted a sharply worded tirade on his Truth Social platform from the Michael Savage: Savage Nation podcast, highlighting America’s birthright citizenship laws while singling out India and China, agencies reported.
The shared post featured a letter by radio host Michael Savage, who termed India, China and other nations as “hellholes” in a call to amend US citizenship policies. He alleged that individuals from these countries deliberately travel to the United States late in pregnancy to ensure their children gain automatic citizenship, paving the way for broader family immigration.
“A baby here becomes an instant citizen, and then they bring in their entire family from China, or India, or some other hellhole on the planet,” he wrote in the letter.
Savage further described Indian and Chinese immigrants as “gangsters with laptops” who have allegedly inflicted severe damage on the US. “They’ve done more damage to this nation than all the mafia families put together. In my unhumble opinion. Gangsters with laptops. They’ve robbed us blind, treated us like second-class citizens, let the third world triumph, stepped on our flag, et cetera,” he wrote.
Trump amplified the post just one day after telling CNBC that “no country in the world” besides the US offers birthright citizenship.
However, various countries around the world confer birthright citizenship to individuals born within their borders, including Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and other South American countries, which flatly contradicts the statement.
