New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held meetings with senior ministers to discuss a second stimulus package, especially for adversely-affected sectors amid the nationwide lockdown necessitated by the coronavirus pandemic.
Lockdown 2.0 was to end on May 3, but the government extended it by two more weeks, till May 17.
According to a PTI report, Modi met Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, among others.
The Prime Minister will hold follow-up meetings with ministers of key economic ministries like Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME).
The government had announced an economic package in the last week of March. But several states have been asking for another consolidated package from the Centre to help them battle the deadly pandemic as well as support the small businesses.
